Narada REX-C | Carbon Lead Battery

Lead carbon batteries are the latest, most advanced technology for off-grid solar systems. They include highly conductive carbon material with high capacitance into the negative electrode, combining the advantages of lead acid batteries and super capacitors. The Lead carbon battery also known as Ultra-battery provides high energy density AND high power with rapid charge and discharge, all with longer cycle life. The design life of these 2V batteries is 20 years and at 30% DOD will provide 7000 cycles.

 

By adding active carbon nano-technology, a new active centre is created in the negative electrode that reduces lead sulphate build up, This ultra-capacitor / ultra-battery lead carbon technology suppresses sulphation up to ten times better than its counterparts. This advanced battery type is ideal for partial state of charge cycle applications.

When your solar, wind or hydro generation is not always enough, other batteries would suffer drastically from build-up on their negative electrode quickly reducing lifespan.  Now with this advanced ultra-battery lead carbon cell, you have the perfect solution for any operations.

25 MWh Storage Solution (video below) 

A Narada battery-powered energy storage facility in Saxony, Germany is providing 16 megawatts of battery energy storage to help smooth out peaks and troughs in energy supplied to the grid.

 

The facility is run by Narada using more than 1,000 advanced lead carbon batteries, supplying 25 MWh of power.

 

This is the kind of project that is delivering on Europe’s Green Deal ambitions now. And it demonstrates the value of investing in different battery technologies in support of wider electrification.

 

The innovative lead-carbon technology used by Narada,  offers extended cycle life in shallow cycle life, a key requirement of large-scale energy storage systems.

 

With a calendar life of 15 years, the project’s batteries are set to reliably support Germany’s electricity grid for more than a decade.
